I'm still trying to answer the three main questions:

- Are these really random? It is possible someone is going after specific people who "brag" or "mention" many things that they have...

- What has been the overall most taken, deleted, stolen or affected item or thing from all these reports? It could be what makes one person versus another more likely to be hacked or whatever...

- Why now of all times? Did someone get banned and this is how they plan to get revenge? This could be, in some way, related to the other two questions...

i had all skills unlocked years ago. someone was urging me to sell my account but i was having none of it.

i haven't been very active on guild wars for a few months now. i haven't posted on here in a long time. i don't play with PUG's and the only people in my alliance have bene there for over 2 1/2 years and i trust them all. so it can't be that someone has heard me saying "blah blah i have all this stuff"

they need some kind of extra protection. maybe make it so you have to enter a password for deleting characters. most people can deal with losing items but not chars

My condolences to you, Ramma - I really feel for you.

Maybe it's time that all the recent victims of account theft compared notes - are they all using a particular application? Do they all visit the same websites (except this one, hopefully)? Are they in a similar geographic location?

This is getting worse by the day.

makes me sick to see some of the gwg users claiming others are hackers/cheaters/botters themselves, just because they got hacked.

i feel your pain, i was hacked before factions came out, and had to restart a long time ago, and i have friends in the same boat, good luck on and in whatever you do after : /

i changed passwords on all my accounts

I just made 6 new characters in Nightfall. Some have kept the same name, some have better names. Going to see how long it takes to finish all 3 games with one character.

I'd actually hazard a guess that the actual amount of hacking has remained the same - the only thing that's changed is the amount of people talking about it. People with a loss find solidarity in their community.

It's all about perception. Remember the year of "If the media are reporting there are more shark attacks, there MUST be more shark attacks!" In fact, it was a very slow news summer in America, and the media latched on to something sensationlist - there were no more shark attacks than in previous years.

Someone could be using a packet sniffer to gain passwords and email accounts. Just seems odd that its a % of guru members that are getting hacked *Raises Eyebrows*.
I really feel for ya, but if this has happened before; should have learned from your mistake. Or maybe it was the same guy that left you the 55 gear so you can farm up and he goes and hacks you again. Use the same password much?
